Do any of the characters change in the story? What caused them to change?
Charlie changes the most in the book. Because in the beginning he did not have any friends, then he made so many friends and becomes an extreme partier. And becomes more popular. Also he becomes more close to his family than he was before, in the beginning he did not want to interact with his family due to his friend loss. Towards the end he realizes that he needs to become more close with his family.
How do you feel about this story? Would you recommend it to someone else? Why or why not?
I did really enjoy this book, but I wished the ending was better. And yes I would recommend this book to someone else because its very relatable for high school students. The end was a major disappointment because there was not a solution on how he acted, other than the fact that he changed friends.
If you could trade places with one of the characters, which one would it be, and why?
I would trade places with Sam because everyone loves her, she is a lovable person. Everyone finds her easy to get along with too. Also she sees both perspective on things, and knows how to be a friend when someone needs one. She wants to be everyone's friend and see's the good in people.
If you had been the main character in this story, would you have acted differently? Explain why or how.
If I was the main character I would have acted more reliable because Charlie was all over the place sometimes you couldn't trust him.And you never know what you're going to get out of him, he as a lot of mixed emotions. He can easily become a better person, but he ended up with the wrong friends that influenced him to do bad things.
What do you think the best part of the story and why?
I think the best part of the story was when Charlie claimed he felt infinite because he felt like he could live forever. And he finally feels like a whole person. Due to his best friend's death he hasn't felt normal or like he has friends.
What was unique about the setting of the book and how did it enhance or take away from the story?
The book was unique because everything was written in letters and it enhanced the way charlie felt throughout the book. With the written letters I felt closer to charlie than any other characters.
Was there a character you didn't like? Why didn't you like this character?
I personally did not like Charlie's sister because she was full of drama and she was really mean to him. And she over exaggerates on the things that are unnecessary. Even though Chbosky did not give much information out about his sister, he gave enough for me not to like her.
How are you different from one of the characters? Explain.
In the book all his friends party and do drugs, I'am the opposite. I do not party or tend to. They are all wild and crazy, and i'm more laid back. Also they go against rules more than they obey them.
